The Emerging Web Trends and Technology class has made me aware of the importance of keeping up with the latest development trends. The goal of a good web designer or developer is to create user-friendly and functional websites. In order to achieve that goal, you need to be up to date with the most current tools, software, and technologies.
What I gained in doing the weekly discussions in class, was the knowledge in learning that there are many resources and tools out there to help enhance a web designer and developers skills. These resources and tools help with the creation of web content, they help teach, and they help quicken the design process. I learned that there is much more out there besides W3Schools! It was a good experience in searching for different web resources and tools.
I plan on keeping a copy of the many tools and resources I found, and those of my classmates, for easy reference. I also plan on continuing to research new tools and resources that will not only inspire what I will create design wise but will also help me become more knowledgeable and faster at creating web content and webpages.
The only real difficulties I had were in the areas of building a Progressive Web App, VR content, and AI. For these three topics I needed to find tutorials to help with the foundation of the webpage, as I need to expand my learning in the area of JavaScript, Python, and Java scripting languages. I plan to continue, in my free time, practicing using free open resources on these three programming languages. I also plan on exploring and practicing with other trends such as Interactive Storytelling, Typographic Designs, and Micro Interactions.
The only thing I think I would have changed to improve the look of my final project would have been to use something other than the parallax scrolling effect for my page layout. The background image is not clear for mobile devices, and although it has a nice look for the desktop, it does not for mobile devices.
